Back in 1990 Monica and Maurizio, the farm's current owners, were fascinated by this old country house situated in a panoramic position in front of Monte Amiata, the hills of Val d'Orcia and the valley of the river Ombrone. After buying the farm Podere San Giusto and its 4 hectars of land surrounding it and 200 olive trees in production, Monica decided to leave her job to become a full time farmer. Afterwards she bought 6 more hectars of land and 1300 olive trees nearby Porrona, a medieval village dominated by a castle. In 2004 Monica started working on a brand new wineyard in order to produce DOC Montecucco red wine, on another piece of land in front of San Giusto. Nowadays the farm covers as much as 10 hectars by the village of Cinigiano, in the heart of the Montecucco Wine Road, a high-quality wine which has been granted the much valued DOC certificate of origin.
